"Fort Jefferson and Dry Torgugas National Park arelocated roughly 70 miles west of Key West, in the middle of the water. Expect unique blend of history and natural beauty. Fort Jefferson is an enormous and impressive fortress that dominates the small island it was built upon. Exploring its massive brick structure is easily the highlight of the trip to Dry Torgugas National Park. The fort, snorkeling around the moat provides a pleasant way to experience the clear waters, while the presence of nesting seabirds adds a distinctive ecological element to the visit. Facilities on the island itself are limited."

"Wonderful history, enormous fort in the Dry Tortugas. Access by seaplane, boat or ferry from Key West, Florida. Nesting birds, including frigates. This is a national park, swimming and snorkeling areas, as well as camping reservations are available. Highly recommend!"

"Such a historic and cool fort. There is a nice marked out walking tour that you can do yourself through the fort. The plaquards have a lot of great information along the way and some really great sites and views as you tour the fort. It really is worth the visit and you will enjoy the ride out, if you alront get motion sickness, as it's a great sail!"
